Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop
Road Less Traveled Productions renamed the New Play Workshop in honor of Emanuel Fried. Manny is a theatrical legend in our community and his association with RLTP has been invaluable to the continued growth of our theater company.
 Road Less Traveled Productions is heading into the final year of a three-year retrospective of Fried's plays. RLTP opened The Road Less Traveled Theater in 2006 with Manny's classic The Dodo Bird. It continued it's retrospective this season when Manny himself return to the stage as playwright and actor in Boilemakers & Martinis. RLTP's '08/'09 Season will feature the final play in the retrospective, Triangles. The Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop, a program under the supervision of Workshop Director Kyle LoConti and Resident Playwright Jon Elston, is dedicated to supporting playwrights in development of scripts with strong production and performance values. Over the course of the year, playwrights will write and hone their scripts. The Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop then presents readings of these new scripts to the public. These readings team the playwrights with some of Western New York's leading talent and tests the audience-readiness of these new plays.  Darryl Schneider's WAR ROOM, the first play developed within RLTP's Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop to be subsequently produced as part of RLTP's regular season, won the 2007 Artie Award for Best New Play! Developed in our '05-'06 New Play Workshop and produced in the Fall of 2006, WAR ROOM also garnered a nomination for Best Actress (Christina Rausa)! This is a vote of confidence for Darryl and for the NPW. The 2007-08 Season includes two plays developed in the New Play Workshop, homeland and Bonegrinders RLTP's New Play Workshop Director is Kyle LoConti. Kyle LoConti is the Chair of the Division of Arts & Media at Niagara County Community College, where she teaches, directs, and choreographs in the Department of Theatre Arts. She directed >Bonegrinders for RLTP this season. Other recent productions include Den of Thieves, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Rocky Horror Show. She was also the stage manager for Corsetless with Catherine Eaton at Irish Classical Theatre Company, and has been the stage manager for Shakespeare in Delaware Park for twelve years.
