2006 - 2007 Season

Buffalo Movie

April 13th through May 6th Buffalo Movie

Buffalo is ready for the Big Time – but is the Big Time ready for the Buffalo Movie?

Two desperate wannabe filmmakers will go to any lengths to put their hometown on the map – including kidnapping a famous Hollywood director and forcing him to produce their big studio debut! But Tinseltown’s legendary lack of loyalty wreaks havoc on the streets of WNY when the moneymen want to shoot in Toronto and recast the Chicken Wing as a Corn Dog on a Stick! Will Erie County integrity prevail?

RLTP is proud to present a world premiere comedy from the mind of Jon Elston, award-winning author of Interrogation Room, Private Viewing, and Project. This edgy, smart, and wacky farce takes Civic Pride to hysterical new depths!

"...All (Elston’s plays) are remarkably mature and resolved works... a laudable young playwright."
– Richard Huntington, The Buffalo News

The Dodo Bird

September 8th through October 8th

the DODO bird

The Dodo Bird is a man who should not exist. Constantly inebriated, he somehow manages to survive and eke out a living at the local steel mill. One afternoon, factory tough guy Bull Blatter walks into his favorite watering hole, sizes up the Dodo, and decides to make him extinct. What follows is a battle of wills: does Dodo have the strength to stand up for himself? Is there anything left in his life worth fighting for?

This production of Emmanuel Fried’s The Dodo Bird launches Road Less Traveled Productions’ three-year retrospective of the works of this beloved Buffalo playwright.

2006 Artie Award winner Gerry Maher stars as Dodo and is joined by Greg Natale, Dan Walker, and Jermaine Cooper under the direction of RLTP Artistic Director Scott Behrend.

War Room

October 22nd through November 19th

WINNER OF THE 2007 ARTIE FOR BEST NEW PLAY!!

War Room

"Bringing the war home" takes on new meaning for a devastated family in the world premiere of Darryl Schneider’s The War Room.

Vietnam vet Carl Schiller remains at attention, even now. He patrols the bedroom of his eldest son, Billy – KIA in Iraq – restlessly searching for the truth behind Billy’s death. Outside the Schiller home, the world seems to have already moved on; inside, the war rages on, and Carl’s quest threatens to destroy his entire family.

Darryl Schneider, author of the critically acclaimed Two To The Head, returns to the RLTP stage with this powerful social drama, which walks the fine line between “pro-soldier” and “anti-war” while seeking to address questions that are as troubling today as they were forty years ago.

"A fresh new voice on the Buffalo theatre scene."
– Richard Huntington, The Buffalo News
